India performed well in the doubles but it was not enough and Italy defeated the hosts by 3-1 in the first Davis Cup World Finals by winning the first reverse singles on Saturday.

Andreas Sappi defeated India's number one Pragnesh Guneshwaran 6-1, 6-4 in the first unmatched match, before India lost the hopes of Italy's whitewash by winning the doubles match. But you can not expect a miracle.'
